The optimum water temperature for the most rapid hatching of the baby Sea-Monkeys® is 78 degrees F or 26 C. Temperatures lower than that result in longer hatching times…sometimes up to a week!!!
Don’t be impatient! Sea-Monkey eggs vary tremendously in the thickness of their eggshells. Some hatch immediately but others may take much longer to hatch…days even! This variability in shell thickness is a natural phenomenon and is important to the survival of Artemia in the wild.
I strongly recommend aerating the water in the tank for the first 4 days after you add pouch #1. Do this with your Million Bubble Air Pump. You can also gently stir the water with a plastic spoon.
Keep the tank in a North-facing window so that it gets light...but not direct sunlight. The light helps the algae in the tank to grow and that makes the Sea-Monkeys very happy.
Please use this newly researched and recommended way to feed your Sea-Monkeys. Add a small Feeding Spoon scoop of the green Sea-Monkey® Food to a small vial. A plastic pill bottle is fine…but be sure that the bottle is clean. Fill a plastic teaspoon to the ½ way level using bottled water. No metal spoons, thank you! Cover and shake for about 10 seconds until all the food is suspended. Next, quickly pour the suspension into the tank. Finally, rinse all components with clean tap water and wipe dry with a clean towel. This feeding method makes for a great deal of activity on the part of the Sea-Monkeys and it is ideal for babies and adults.
Feed the babies on Day #5. Don’t use more than about half of the small scoop the first time that they are fed. Too much food will cause them to suffocate
If all goes well and you don't overfeed them (the leading cause of premature Sea-Monkey expiration) the family should last for years.
Refill the evaporated water with bottled water which is at the same temperature as the tank water.
Have fun and always take care of your Sea-Monkey pets and the family will last for years. One Sea-Monkey® lover has had a tank going in
